Description

The Ardra (wet) lunar mansion gets its name from Rudra, the raging storm form of Shiva the destroyer. The symbol of this mansion, the teardrop, also leaves little doubt as to its meaning. In the mythological story, Rudra is the incarnation of the god Shiva in the form of a howling storm which causes floods and forest fires that give space for new growth to emerge. This is why this mansion is associated with aggressive impulsiveness, uncontrollable rage, wreckage and destruction. Despite these, this mansion also has quite positive sides dealing with self-control, sports, fitness and athletics, meditation and yoga, which according to legend was invented by Shiva himself to control his temper. The mythology also tells that on the one hand Shiva destroyed Kamadev (Cupid, the god of desire), and on the other invented tantra, hence this mansion is deeply associated with sex, sexuality, and tantric practices. Shiva is also well known for his dance of destruction, and this mansion is often associated with dancing.
