Description
The Jyestha (firstborn, oldest, eldest) lunar mansion gets its name both from the bright star Antares, which has a special significance in most cultures, and from the mythological story of the Nakshatras, in which Jyeshtha is the eldest of the 27 daughters married to the Moon. The deity of this mansion is Indra, the king of the gods and the Hindu counterpart of the Babylonian Marduk, the Greek Zeus, the Roman Jupiter, the Germanic Thor and the Abrahamic Michael, underscoring the preeminence and supremacy represented by Jyeshtha.
In the mythological story, Indra like all of its counterparts defeats a great dragon\snake which threatens the world, hence the association of this mansion with victory and success. Also like most of his counterparts, Indra is full of insatiable lusts and desires and is prone to bragging and arrogance which often get him into serious trouble and even make him lose his throne.
The main difference between Indra and most of its counterparts is his fear and even paranoia about losing his throne, which makes him extremely defensive. The symbols of this mansion, the umbrella which protects from the elements and the talisman which protects from dark forces, also emphasize the protective nature of this lunar mansion.
If one wishes to understand this lunar mansion, it is important to understand that these mythological stories are a parable for the human ego, which inflates with every success and is afraid of anything that will deflate it or dispute its importance. This is the position of the Moon in the charts of Einstein, Nietzsche, Freud, Yuri Gagarin, Christopher Reeve, Stephen King and Donald Trump. It is also the position of Venus for Theodore Roosevelt, of Mars for Prince Charles and Howard Hughes, of Jupiter for Bush senior, of Rahu for Saddam Hussein and Nelson Mandela, of Ketu for Bush junior and Charles De Gaulle, and of Saturn for Golda Meir.
