Description
The Mrigashirsha (deer) lunar mansion gets its name from the mythical story of Brahma the creator and his most beautiful daughter Rohini. As mentioned in the description of the previous mansion, Brahma fell madly in love with Rohini, so he turned into a swift deer and started chasing her throughout the heavens. When Shiva the destroyer god heard Rohini’s cries for help, he shot the deer severing his head in the process, and that head became fixed in the sky as the Mrigashirsha mansion. As can be seen from the mythological story, this mansion’s main theme is the blind chase after goals and object of affection, but it also deals with the tragic connotations of such a chase like the loss of control or amoral and unethical desires.
